Parts of Buildings in İstanbul (ink)
(Observational Drawing)
A Street From Venice (dry pencil)
(Observational drawing with my added imagination)
My intent in this artwork was to show imaginations of humans and delusions imagination creates. The space texture symbolised the imagination of human mind, it’s vast and extensive like the space. The variety of vibrant colors used in the buildings create sense of “fantasy world”, emphasized the space and human figure looking to the flowing space with the contrast of black and the vibrant colors. Thus the use of black takes the attention of the piece to “human imagination”. The “space” at the center feels like it’s going to infinity hereby, the extensiveness of the imagination world is resembled. But, sometimes imaginations can create delusions: The internal spaces created at the left of the drawing  seems like an imaginary of the internal space of the green building. Even though it seems like it resembles the inside, it actually has a different vanishing point. It’s impossible to see both the internal and external structure of a building, only it can be created with imagination. The space flows like a water and it’s also a work of imagination. The liquidity and movement of space ,just like a water, is felt with the overflow of space from the photograph. However, this is technically impossible and imaginative mind creates that which creates a delusion. The overall “delusion” theme is shown where the photograph feels like real but the frame itself is also a drawing. This feeling of reality is created by shading the background of the photograph, which creates the delusion.
Trevi Fountain (charcoal and pencil)
(Observational drawing with my added imagination)
This is a snow globe which has Trevi Fountain inside it. The glass globe is the “protector” of the building from the bad environment. The other figures around the building was “threats”.The aim of this piece was to underline the importance of protection of cultural heritage sites. The ascertained danger for heritages like Trevi Fountain, are: serious deterioration of architectural coherence; significant loss of historical authenticity; important loss of cultural significance. There are three symbols shown in the artwork  to symbolize the possible threats for “cultural” heritage sites: pollution- industrialization, bad town planning and climate change. The trees swinging from the wind in opposite directions symbolizes the rapid climate change in the world. I pointed this message because there has been currently many cultural heritage sites that are in danger. Cultural heritage can convey traditional knowledge that builds resilience for change to come and leads us to a more sustainable future ;so we should strengthen the protection, the city planning should be well designed and the sustainability should concern the government.

Self Portrait (acrylic paint)
I drew a portrait of myself that addresses the issue “objectification of women”.The artwork basically portraits a women marionette figure in a sexy bodysuit. I especially chose “sexy” colors to show the perception of the other towards women. The makeup and the corset resembles actually the meanings society put on women role. To amplify the surrounding perception to women. Then to create the idea of “objectification” I added little details to make it look like a marionette: I made the joints in the elbows and hands look like a masciene; used strict lines around them to give a “doll” look. When looking at the facial features, it’s clearly seen that there is a tiredness and sadness that is created with the dark shadows on the eyes. That’s how I feel about this topic. Women are seen like marionettes: they are objects and they feel the pressure to move their body according to what men want. They are controlled by man will and perception.
